Two rattles I'm having issues with

The first one which is the one bothering me.... I searched and found some old threads, but pics were gone and the instructions i saw were kind of hard to get a visual on...

The arm rest rattles when im driving. Driving me nuts. It does it when its in either position (slid open or all the way back).

Also - no, im not missing any screws underneath the actual arm rest.

The second one sounds like the left side of my instrument panel. its very little, but of course i hear it and it annoys me. it seems like its the first instrument, behind the head light switch. when i press down on it - it stops.

thanks in advance.

2nd one could be the heater vent that's just to left of the instrument panel.

I know there we quite a few rattle fix threads in the 3G Garage; have you searched the topic list there?

I have that armrest rattle too. I think it started after I took it apart to install some new high density foam since it was worn down. I was planning on taking it apart again and re-installing to see if that will fix it. I keep putting this off, thanks for reminding me, I need to get on that.

here is the one fix i saw... but like i said - hard to visualize. if someone can better explain, or maybe give it a shot and take some pics it would be great

"Center Armrest rattle fix: take those little 3/8" felt bumpers cut one in half and place each half (which the armrest up) on the very edges of the two tracks - one on each side - and then place one of the those litter felt bumpers inside the armrest (with the top tray down and the arm rest slide all the way forward) where the inside track glides on the two rails - one on eash side. Then close the armrest. There should be little "wiggle" movement now. This solved the problem quickly and inexpesively. No more rattle."

I fixed the rattle in my armrest. The two screws that hold the metal sliding mechanism need to be torqued down really tight otherwise the slightest movement would cause it to creak since it would flex back and forth. It was an easy fix. Hope this helps.
