Two for the price of one?
Two for the price of one?
Hi, I have two problems with my '04 tl non-navi.
The first is the red "brake" warning light is on. After I start the car and it goes through its self-diagnostic, the VSA and Yellow triangle warning lights come on. These come on 5 to 10 seconds after the car is started. The ABS light does not come on. VSA works until the warning light comes on. The brakes seem to work fine. I have checked all four brake pads, and the break fluid. I have replaced the brake pedal switch. Any Ideas?
Problem two just started. I came home from a three day vacation during which the TL was left in my garage. The battery which is less than two months old, was dead. I jumped it and let the car run. As I sat in the car with the heater and radio off and the car idling, I could hear a soft clicking sound coming from the dash maybe in the center or right center. When I turn the car off, the clicking sound gets faster--even when I take the key out of the ignition. I wonder if a switch or relay (I'm no mechanic) is trying to complete some action but can't, and this is causing the battery to drain. I was able to start the car this morning, so the battery drain is pretty slow.
I would appreciate any help, thanks!

are you still getting that clicking noise or did it stop?
You might be able to get the code for the brake light at a local auto parts store but I'm iffy on if you can retrieve it. That'll help immensely.

I did a little more work on the clicking sound. It is coming from the radio/tape deck. When I pull the fuse for the sound system, the clicking stops. Recently the tape player stopped working and a cassette-type devise is now stuck in the player. Has anyone had success using rebuilt sound systems for their TL's?
As for using a local parts store to have them read the code for my VSA light/triangle issue, the stores I've checked with have told me they can only diagnose check engine light issues. I have read through quite a few posts about the VSA light on this forum but they all seem to also have ABS lights on too. I was hoping someone might have had the same symptoms I am having.
Thanks for responding, csmeance.
