Turn signal too quiet

I'm not deaf (yet) but I can barely hear the turn signal relay above road noise. I've caught myself with the turn signal on for who knows how long on the highway, just like those geezers in Florida. My dealer is checking for a possible solution, such as moving the relay or replacing it with a heavy duty job. Am I the only one with this complaint?

I kinda like the fact that it's quiet. If I'm sitting at a rather long light that noise can drive me nuts.

Nah, you're not the first to complain about the turn signal relay being quiet. I can hear the one in my car and in fact, I think it's quite audible.

Does anyone in Florida actually use turn signals?

Besides, how are you supposed to hold onto yiur cell phone if you have to flip that lever that makes the pretty lights go all flashy???

Can you tell I just drove home?

I love the fact that they are so quiet. I have no problems hearing them. I hated the loud ass ones in my old 97 Camry which sounded like it came out of a Chevy Cavalier.

Simple fix: Wire the turn signal lights to the horn.

I can't imagine myself leaving turn signal on like morons on road.

I look at MID, look at speedo, look at my gear indicator(Auto), look at Navi, look at RPM then cycle those steps again.

I can hear it quite well...too well, in fact...that constant clicking is annoying...I've never understood how people sit at a light with one on without going nuts (and the people with one on in the turn lane ARE nuts). With the windows up, and therefore the stereo at a reasonable level, I can still hear it.

But, I do have a solution to your problem...move to NC, particularly Charlotte...you don't have to worry about not hearing it because you won't have to use it...no one else here does...

Use of Turn Signals

Going a bit off topic since the thread is about the blinker sound inside our TL's (I can hear mine fine btw, 05/navi) but drivers that don't use turn signals is a pet peeve of mine. I go bananas waiting to make a left turn while traffic is approaching to pass in front of me from my left and some emmer effer just makes a right turn without signalling. I know we are talking about 10 seconds lost but just the fact that I have to wait for some inconsiderate a-hole just ticks me off, And then you make a sign to them that they should use their signals (no not the middle finger, at least not at first) and they get all bent out of shape.

Also I understand your comment about using a turn signal when in a turn only lane. You should also realize that the signals are for pedestrians too, not to mention oncoming traffic that may not be able to see that you are in a turn only lane. But what pisses me off with people in turn only lanes is that most don't signal before they get into the turn lane as well as people that brake first, stop and then signal.

Hijack of thread and rant over.

Yeah, I do all that too. I also mount my Garmin GPS on the steering post & it blocks the center display. The GPS shows my speed, but I've caught myself missing the turn signal. I can't even hear it if the windows are open. Maybe it's just defective. They have free Starbucks at my dealership & I could use a fix.

Free starbucks? Awesome lol. I can understand when windows rolled down at highspeed or in busy downtown area, you may not able to hear it. You just have to check ur panel occasionally to avoid that. I think only time I made that mistake was when I got distracted by erratic traffic and my radio volume was really high.

I drove an '05 Auto from the dealership as a loaner and I found it was much louder than my '04 6MT turn signal. Not sure what they changed but personally I prefer my quieter one. If you want it louder maybe they can swap it with an '05 turn signal (assuming you own an '04).

Turn Signal Problem Update

My dealership replaced my '04 TL's turn signal relay with one for the '05 which is slightly but sufficiently louder and the problem was solved. I also installed a Multivex mirror for the driver's side and got rid of the blind spot. A near-perfect car is even better.
