Trunk Lid Latch Repair
Hi all,
My trunk lid latch recently broke. Maybe from the repeated times that i removed the trunk lid liner to get at the license plate lights.
Well something actually fell out of the latch. It is a spring and a covering for that spring. I would like to attempt to repair it as apposed to getting a new one which may cast me up to $50.
What i need from my wonderful fellow forum member is a picture of where that spring is supposed to reside. I really have no clue where it came from. All I know is the licking mechanism does not always keep the trunk closed now and I believe it is the job of the spring to move the latch.
Thanks!

I would suggest taking this to the dealer and tell them you closed the trunk and it popped out. I had my 07-tls about 2 months when my trunk latch broke. I closed my trunk one night headed down on a 6hr trip and the next morning my trunk would not open. Only way it would open was triggering the emergency switch and considering my trunk had two suitcases and a stroller... talk about fun lol. I suggest you just take it to the dealer and it should covered under warranty

There is nothing in the service manual showing a breakdown of the switch, and you can click here for the parts list to see what it looks like but I'm not sure it will be of much help.

Thanks guys. As my car is an 04 with 83k miles, I won't be able to get anything done through the dealer as far as warranty is considered.
I'm thinking this is an easy fix as I know what fell out. I just want to put it back where it belongs.
If anyone can take a pic of where this spring is supposed to go, it would be greatly appreciated!
