This issue just started to happen over the past month. My trip odometer and calculator (avg mpg,mph,speed) is resetting at random, usually once per tank of gas around the 3/4-1/2 mark.

The usually scenario is I'm around 3/4 tank of gas remaining (and I reset the computer every fill up), I park my car and leave it for about 6 hours while working. Come back and notice everything is zeroed out. Most recently in addition (for the first time) my nav screen also asked for the code (but the radio did not).

I searched but couldn't find this exact issue, but a similar issue suggested disconnecting the battery leaving for 12hours to 3 days. I'm going to give this a shot, but was curious if anyone else ever encountered this issue and know what the cause is.

 

sounds like the battery is momentarily being disconnected.

 

Check your terminals to see if they are on tight

 

Check your battery- sounds like it's not holding a 12v change for extended periods of time. Could be a battery issue or possibly a parasitic draw from the car. My car shows signs of this as well when it's parked for 4+ days. My radar detector will warn me with a 'Low Power' alert and the starter is slower than normal.

I have never had the trip meter reset or entered a nav code so the OPs case might be extreme.
