Transmission Problems

Good afternoon everyone,

So I'm pretty much new to Acura, I have a 06 TL AT with 185k miles. I've searched through this forum for hours hoping I don't have a failing transmission. However, I've come to the conclusion I do. The signs are rough shift into 2nd, laggy response when put into drive or reverse(read though that it's kinda common), and now my CEL came on and I got a code saying TCC Selenoid failure or transmission low fluid. Basically through reading this forum that TCC Selenoid failure code is basically saying my tranny is going out. I have an appointment tomorrow at Aamco for them to test and see what the real issue at hand is.

If my transmission is bad and it needs to be replaced what would be the recommended option by my fellow Acura owners.

I can have it rebuilt for around $1100, I found a used Accord V6 tranny for $650 with roughly 81k miles, buy imported one with a year warranty for $1400, and a few others.

Reading the forum I've heard great stories about putting a V6 Accord tranny in instead of another TL. I've heard a rebuilt is just going to break again. So not entirely sure what to do, don't have money to blow, so I want the best possible outcome.

Thanks for any and all replies!

Yeah, it's just that it comes with no warranty and I have no clue of the condition it's in. Hate to shell out $650 plus installation and it craps
out 2 months later. Just being over caihtuous I suppose. I have been leaning towards the Accord tranny though, just hoping for some
more positive feedback.

I had my transmission rebuilt. Put almost 15k miles on it so far. You just need to find someone who is knowledgeable in rebuilding these transmissions.

Even buying an accord transmission puts you in the same risk.

every time I bought a used mechanical part, ie; engine or tranny....from a junk yard...they always offered a 3 month warranty.
find a new place to purchase.

Av6 tranny

Wait a min..ive read that the Honda av6 tranny was only for 2nd gen tl..is this true or not. I've already rebuilt and actually replaced my original transmission within about 2 years.

I have an '05 with a bad tranny also. I was gonna buy an AV6 and out it in but have only heard of one person that actually did it. Sounded like it went great for at least the first 10K. Anyone have any more feedback?

You'll have to find an AV6 trans from 2007 model. Direct fit with the exception of the range switch and I believe the flex plate.
Very easy fix on that.
