Transmission problem

Hi, I have a 2006 TL with the 5AT. Yesterday, the transmission acted of a really weard way. For exemple, it was on the second gear and the engine always varied between 1500 and 2400rpm when I was on a constant speed. In the car, I could feel the shots when the engine was dropping or increasing in rpm. It acted of the same way with the others gears and the green light next to the D was flashing. After some miles, I stop the engine and the transmission seems to be ok since this moment. It is the second time that the transmisson does that. The oil is new and the level is correct. What could be the problem? I hope tje tranny is not going to went out!!!

Also, I think that the transmission is slipping a lot. When I am at 50mph, the engine is at about 1600-1700rpm and if I keep the same speed and I climb a coast, the rpm will increase to 2300-2400rpm but it will stay on the fifth gear. I have to push more on the gas pedal if I want the transmission to downshift to the fourth gear. I deduced that the transmission was slipping. Is that normal or not??

Sorry if I am hard to read, I am French, thanks.

Ok I will do that! I called my dealer and they said the same thing than you...

Don't know if a should swap a MT6 or put a new AT5 if it is really the end of my transmission because I am tired to drive an automatic.

check your 4th gear pressure switch, when my car did that, it was because that switch had failed. replacing it = problem solved and no more p1740 and no more pusling while in drive . if your trans is slipping it may be too late

The 3rd and 4th gear switches are new! I replace them when the transmission did that the first time.

I would like to, but it will probably be way more expensive than to just change the AT.
