Transmission leaking

I have an 04 TTL WITH 112000 kms. I'm in Canada. My transmission started leaking about two weeks ago. Took it to my mechanic who narrowed the leak to a gasket. He suggested I take it to a transmission specialist and have them replace the gasket and seal. Which I did at Mr. Transmission. Charge with tax was about 150.00. Didn't notice a leak for a couple days. Then it started leaking again. Went back to Mr. Transmission and dropped the car off for them to check. Was just told there is a crack in the middle of the case and it will cost 600 to pull the tranny out, 500 to put it on a bench and fix it and 300 in parts. The part is a transmission seal kit. I'm not an expert on this so I would like some help from my fellow brothers and sisters here.

Sorry to hear. It's not a common problem, but it happens occasionally.

We went through that with our Odyssey (J35)-- 5-speed transmission was fine, but a seal in the middle of the case went bad a couple of years back.
A Honda dealer did the work-- the seal kit was just under $300, but I think the OTD total was $1,300, including replacement of 2 motor mounts that went bad.

Update: My mechanic took it to another transmission specialist for a second opinion when he heard it will cost that much. They had my car for about a week. Figured it out that it was a pipe on the top portion of the transmission that was leaking the transmission fluid. The fixed it and the cost was 240. Phew...dodged a bullet there. Been monitoring for a week now by placing a cardboard box under the car and no leak!

^if you have a receipt which states the part/tube that they replaced, that could help some members out in the future! Thanks also for the update!
