Transmission dying?

So I was driving to Austin to get some BBQ/go camping and on the way to Austin I had a few problems.

While driving, I had some slipping half way there when I was braking then accelerating (75MPH --> 20 MPH --> 60 MPH). I then noticed smoke coming underneath my car.

I pulled over and noticed that there was leakage in fluid. Saw 'oil' dripping from my frame and saw oil around my inner driver wheel.

Checked transmission fluid level and it was good, but the fluid smelled slightly burnt. I'm not sure if it is just old or transmission is having issues. I haven't changed it out for 2 years/60k miles. I ended up driving back later at about 60MPH back which is about 80 miles with little to no problems. Transmission fluid stayed the same. Brake, power steering, and motor oil are at good levels, but I could smell the fluid through A/C when the car was at a stop.

I'm not sure if the transmission fluid is causing the slippage, but I'm not losing enough fluid to be low? (Its on max according to dipstick) If I some how overfilled year(s) ago, (and somehow never leaked before) it being overfilled wouldn't cause it to slip.

Only conclusion I can think of is that a seal is worn/loose and that its causing ATF to leak thus causing it to slip and that the dipstick is giving me a incorrect reading.

The other (worst) conclusion is that my transmission is dying somehow.

Any ideas?

Possible that the overfilled trans fluid got hotter than normal, aerated/slippage, and blew out the filler tube. If the fluid smells burnt, I'd do a change and depending on the miles look at a filter change also, then just drive and hope for the best.

Wouldn't the overfilled trans fluid be an issue 2 years ago if it was overfilled?
