Torn CV boots

So both my CV boots are leaking. Pretty sure it's because of the excess lowering/hard driving combination (about 2.2 inches all around).

So now it's back up to close to stock height, and will most likely keep it around there.

Questions is...dealer is asking for $550 for fixing this. I believe it's changing both joints, and labor.

It is starting to make light clicking noises at low speed, full lock turns.
Is that too late for the joint already? Can I get away with repacking it with grease, and a new boot?

Input please.

when i took my car in for the recalls, a tech noticed that my drivers side is slightly torn....they said it was $24 in parts and $100 labor for the one side....so $550 sounds a bit high

Clicking... Too late.
I wouldn't be too offended at $550 for both, plus labor, plus alignment.

www.acuraoemparts.com

Hmmm... for an '05 -
R 44305-SEP-A02 $167.36
L 44306-SEP-A02 $176.22

However, you can buy shorter ones that will allow you to keep your drop.

That's just for the boot, not repalcing the CV joint.

when the boot breaks, the grease gets out and the remaining grease acts like a magnet for dirt and road crud to get into the bearing
Click click is way to late~
Try NAPA auto parts-
on gen2 the complete new- not rebuilt, assembly was only 75 dollars
Gen3 cant be that much changed? make a call

any good shop can do it- but I suggest finding the local honda acura specialist just because they already know the bolts and secret tricks to replacement
OR the local alignment shop thats connected with a shop- so they can reset the car when done

Mike, just do it. Ben replaced both of his recently as well. For that price, check to see if the joints really are included.
