Top Window Trim Removal

Hey there Acurazine members. I have a quick question about the window trim for the 3G TL... 2008 to be exact. The trim above the windows on my TL are starting to chip and show the chrome underneath. Does anyone know how to remove these that way I can re-wrap/paint them?? I plan on doing the bottom trim here soon and found the DIY for that but have not been able to find anything regarding the top trim. I assume you have to remove the door panel just like the bottom trim but I would appreciate any advice, tips or instructions from anyone that has previously done this for their TL. Anything helps!!

You can not remove the top trim without damaging it. It is very thin and will deform with the slightest pull. I would recommend buying new or wrapping while on the car.

Hmm.. I may have to order new ones then. I'm assuming oemacuraparts.com would have them. Any suggestions on where else to look? I'm not very good wrapping.. good enough to wrap it if I was able to remove it but I'm not sure about wrapping it while it's still on the car.

The windshield molding is not serviceable. The molding encapsulates the glass and the glass is glue to the body. In order for the molding to be replace the glass has to be cut out of the car destroying the molding.

Refinishing the molding is the best option.

Thank you for your input but I'm referring to the trim that runs above the windows but still on all four doors. I think you may be referring to the flat black trim running along the windshield and up onto the roof all the way back to the rear glass/windshield?

Op, you're correct, my bad.

Your best option is still refinishing those moldings because to remove those moldings you would need to remove the 2 maybe 4 door trim panels, 2 front mirrors, 4 lower horizontal moldings, 4 center vertical moldings, and peel back 4 glass weather strips.

You will break the following: most if not all of the horizontal molding clips- probably bend the molding itself and the 4 upper moldings.
