TL vs Deer

A deer hit my son's 06 TL. He's OK, deer not so much and TL has damage to left front bumper & fender.

I haven't seen the car because he's in another state right now.

He sent me some photos and I'm hoping someone here can identify the hose that is detached. What is it and is the car OK to drive like that? Just to the Repair Shop.

Thanks

The hose you speak of is the air intake tubing and its resonator.

a lot of our members remove the resonator(the box looking thing) to get a deep throaty sound when accelerating.

that black plastic hollow tube? that is the entrance to the air intake, i'm sure its probably ok to drive like that, but who knows what else was damaged if anything.

glad to hear your son is ok. deers are a pain in the ass. many times it is THEM that hit US. its happened to me twice. good luck with the repairs, hope it's mostly cosmetic.

Was it bambi?

That's the least amount of damage I've seen a deer do. Glad your son is okay!

Agreed. You've probably seen the picture of Bambi stuffed all the way up to the firewall of some BMW....

glad your son is okay ... damn deer are overpopulated ... doesn't look like too much damage from what i can see, hopefully the repairs get the car looking back to preaccident condition

Yep and in person as well. A whitetail took out my buddies suburban.. The whole front end was destroyed. It did more damage than bumblebee did.

A deer jumped out and hit my TL when I had it....dent in driver door just below mirror and a huge amt of hair sticking out of the tire/rim...that was it. Sold it shortly after getting it fixed.

Deer Photos

My Bad. I should've known you guys would want to see the dead deer photos. LOL

It happened at night on a 50 mph Highway. The deer was actually struck first by a truck going in the opposite direction and then thrown/propelled into the TL. Unlucky timing but very lucky it wasn't worse.

I would have gut it and taken it to the butcher to make venison steaks. Trunk tray FTW!
