So my 2005 TL have noiseswhen it's cold after starting it up right away. When you turn the steering wheel it also makes the noise. After the engine thermometer reach mid-level point, or the engine heats up, the noise goes away. Any idea? I heard it was the o-ring being black instead of orange or whatever but i got that replaced (with a honda O-ring(which was also black but new))...any ideas guys?

 

Search "recall" and "power steering whine" for the long thread on this-- should take about 10 minutes, max, to replace the O-ring with a short 13 mm. combo wrench.

The low-pressure side O-ring should have been replaced as part of the PS hose recall (call the Acura dealer and make sure the recall work was performed, BTW), but sometimes the O-ring isn't changed during the recall since it's on a different hose.

The new/replacement O-ring is orange, and replaces the black one. It costs @ $1 at the dealer parts dept.

If your steering whine doesn't go away in a couple of days, put in a new orange O-ring, unless the recall hasn't been done (let the dealer do the recall work in that case).
