TL kicks in hard from R to D..

So I had a habit of when reversing my car, i let go of the gas and put the car into D and press the gas...well my gf has been telling my this is bad for the car and i should brake before doing going to "D" but ive been doing it all the time in my accord with no problems.

just got my TL 3 weeks ago and I tried this and all of a sudden the TL kicked in real fast and i wasnt pressing the pedal that far but it made the tires screech which scared the hell outta my gf lol..

should I brake after reversing then go to "D"? or....is my TL unhappy with me that day..?

Your girlfriend is correct. Also, there is a slight delay when changing from reverse to drive which is normal, so you probably pressed the gas before drive was activated, engine rpm's went up and as drive was then engaged, the wheel broke loose. Stop the car, put it in drive, wait for engagement then go.

^^^ What turbo said. I may be in reverse and then shift to N while it's still rolling, but I NEVER put it into D until the car has come to a complete stop.

good way to kill your transmission. when you reverse you should brake to a stop, change gears to drive and then release brake and then press gas.
