TL 2004-2008 Automatic Transmission Problems?

I have a 2005 TL Auto w/nav. In the past I have experienced the following symptoms:

1) rough/bumpy shift from 1st to 2nd gear (but smooth thereafter),

2) occasional "bangs" when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear (maybe twice a year I noticed this loud noise),

3) At around 80,000 miles this past week, my transmission began to slip until I was basically driving in neutral. Dealer told me the transmission burned up and had to be completely replaced. They're doing it for free, even though the car is out of warranty (typical excellent service from my dealer).

I'd like to know how many people have had similar issues with their AUTOMATIC 2004-2008 TL. Please only post if you have experienced a transmission issue. I'm wondering if this might be a common problem with this car, given that TLs prior to 2004 also had transmission problems.

IMHO everything up to about mid 2005 is bad in terms of 5at w/V6 reliability for hondas anything paired with a V6 is just a ticking timebomb outside of the RL. The 5AT used in the K series is extremely reliable over all and so are the Pre 98 cars that use the older 4at.

Acura problems with transmission

I have a 2008 Acura TL, I started having problems with my transmission 3 days ago. The car will not move n reverse and drives real slow in drive. It was running fine now it’s not I do not have no money to get a new transmission my car is not paid for yet & I was going to give it to my son for a graduation present.

Check your axles, could be broken.

The cheapest way to go is to swap in a transmission from a 2006 to 2007 Honda Accord there about half the price of the TL transmission and It Bolts right up the only thing that I had to do was cut the harness off of the TL transmission and wire it in to the Accord transmission I did this about two months ago Works flawlessly and I still have the Tiptronic manual shifting is well if anybody needs to do a transmission swap on a TL I would do it all over again what the Accord tranny
