I'm a new member and also new to the Acura TL. I bought a 2005 TL with 72000 miles on it. I ordered all the parts to do the timing belt and replace the water pump while i'm at it. Is there anything I need to know before I start the project. I have a service manual and the know how but just wondering if anyone has ran into any unusual problems when doing a new timing belt?

 

ive done this more times than i cared to....there's really no special preperations, besides having tools.

Yes, the only thing missing is the mileage. Wait till 105k miles and your timing belt will be ready to change (like the owner's manual says). I just changed a 03 Pilot w/ 112k miles and everything still looked like new inside. And this is from a car that spends it summer in 116* Las Vegas...

 

My owners manual says to replace the timing belt at 60000 miles if driven in heat above 110 deg. The car was bought from a couple in Arizona so I guess I will replace it now.

 

Never done the job, but most recommend the tool to hold the balancer.
Go to the 4th post, as it's a Honda a few items need not be removed.
