Timing belt fail

I swapped out my old timing belt. I failed to crank the new one by hand to make sure everything was good...now it won't turn over. The cams are off from the crank...can I remove the belt and turn the cams to tdc and put it back together? Did I destroy valves...? Help

How far off are the cams? If they are only one or two teeth off, I'd guess that you won't have any damage. You might even be OK if they are a few teeth off. On top of that, I don't know if the starter alone is strong enough to bend anything.

Did you hear any strange "metallic clanking" sounds when you cranked the engine?
