Tighten Fuel Cap/P0174
Hey everybody, yes the tighten fuel cap thread has been done over and over. I have a few questions since I haven't seen this combination.
I am getting the tighten fuel cap message meaning I should replace the Canister Purge Valve Part # 36162-RDV-J01 (This is what I got from other threads)
Now I am also getting the P0174 code, this code comes up and the tighten fuel cap goes away, they have never come up together. Does this mean that that Purge Valve just needs to be replaced or do you think it is a another issue?
The car is a 2008 Acura TL Type S

How often does the P0174 come up? Does it go away on its own or do you have to reset it? How many miles on your Acura?
I get P0174(lean bank 2) or P0171(lean bank 1) once in a blue moon and it goes away on its own. A P0174 or P0171 that only intermittently comes on could just be a lazy oxygen sensor(not super concerning).
If it's consistently on then it narrows it down to 4 likely causes:
Air intake path leak(most probably cause, I had an intake hose/tube crack once)
Faulty oxygen sensor(less likely with lower miles)
Weak fuel delivery(more likely when both banks are throwing lean conditions)
Dirty or faulty MAP sensor
First step I would take is to clear the code and see if it comes back.

I do know about the idle time and then the CEL coming on, which I have seen multiple times. So I am just hoping it is just because of that, I tend to use 93 from speedway or BP most of the time, recently I have stopped using speedway and stuck to only BP and it hasn't come on in the past week and I drive a lot so lets hope it might have just been bad gas that I been getting from speedway.
