Okay, cool, this confirms I definitely need to do mine. My car isn't nearly as loud, but it's the same noise.

EricTheCarGuy on YT has a great video walking through how to do a valve adjustment on the TL! Here's a link:

There's two parts, totaling about an hour. The video gives be the confidence I can do it myself, but it is definitely an involved process.

Valve adjustments are a pain to do, however, you'll notice a slight increase in fuel economy once it's done, and obviously a slightly quieter engine.

Just so you know, it's quite a bit of effort to do a valve adjustment. Strip half the engine down to get at the valves.

Also, make sure your engine is totally at room temperature when you do it. If it's warm, it'll throw off the valve lash- it's really damn small and the expansion of block when warm is enough to throw it off. You NEED feeler gauges to do it.

Don't worry Taco I'm not too knowledgeable with taking apart the top of an engine, so I will take it to get done at Acura. I just wanted to make sure it was the valves before doing the job for about $550.

Erick the car guy is a very good youtuber/mechanic he knows what hes doing knows when to take certain short cuts. I've watched many of his videos and learned a lot. Although he makes this job look easy , valves on a J series is a bit of a pain. It isn't something i'd recommend a non-mechanic to do.

I know this is an old thread but mine sounds like this after the valve adjustment and so did eric the car guys video posted above when he started it up. Is this normal I thought they would get quieter but got louder I used the right feeler gauges listed under the hood .022 and .030
