Recently I noticed my 06 6MT sometimes "thunks" when putting it into 1st gear immediately after depressing the clutch (from a stop). If I slow my motions down slightly, it won't make the noise.

Am I shifting to 1st too fast? This is my second MT car but have driven a handful of others without this happening. A couple were notchy but no noise like I'm experiencing with the TL.

It seems like the clutch might not be fully disengaging but I'm no master tech. LOL! I'm planning on bringing it in to the dealer either way since it's still under warranty but wanted to see if you guys have ever experienced this.

Sounds like you may have one or more failed motor mounts. It could also be your releasing the clutch quickly without enough gas to compensate which will "shock" the engine forward which will cause a thunk sound.

Thanks for the input but it's happening from a stop (Neutral to 1st), not while moving. Also, when I slow down my movements, it doesn't make the noise.....so if it was the mounts, wouldn't it happen regardless?

When I hear the noise, I'm shifting at what I consider a normal speed....around 1 sec (probably slightly less) from the time the pedal hits the floor to me pushing into the gate. Yes, I am fully depressing the clutch before shifting.
