Lightbulb Those old (AND EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE) Hid problems.

Hey all,

I have a problem. MY left headlamp Est Kaput. Either the ballast went, or the bulb did. Either way, Im too freaking poor to buy OEM replacements. I read in a previous post from back in 2016 where a few people here kept pushing OEM. I cant afford it. I only manage 25 hours a week. Family issues keep me from persuing full time employment. So needless to say i cant NOT afford 250 bucks for a ballast and 100 bucks for a bulb. And god knows what else.

So what I really NEED to know. Is there an LED conversion kit that will work on the 04 TL. I don't need to hear all the (HID are brighter blahh blahh blahh) nonsense. I know this. If I can spend 100 bucks to replace both bulbs with something that will get me the two miles home from work at night that will be just fine.
I live in West Texas. Where when the sun goes down it gets STUPID FREAKING DARK. The kinda dark where a candle lights the ground for like 40 feet. So the Weaker LED bulbs would be just fine.

Again, does anyone know of an LED conversion that will work with the 04 TL?

Thanks in advance guys and Gals.

Knuckles from El Paso.

instead of going to LED, which would have poor output....you can buy aftermarket bulbs for $50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but first, you're going to have to troubleshoot if it is the bulb or the ballast. this is simply accomplished by switching out the bad bulb to the other side....if the problem follows the bulb, it def. is the bulb!!!!!!!

head to www.theretrofitsource.com to grab the Morimoto HID bulbs for $50

Try Craigslist / eBay / Black Market here on AZ / local junk yards, etc.........., but you HAVE to diagnose the problem first.

in the case it is your ballast, i'd post a "wanted" ad here in the for sale section. I think I have spare 04 ballasts, but shipping would be killer to get them to you.

You can get Sylvania or Phillips bulbs for about $50 online or like others have mentioned the Morimoto's which are good for less.
