Is there anyway to turn off/disable the car alarm?
Hi all, first time poster here! My 2006 TL was recently in an accident. Engine and drivetrain not affected, mainly just the bumper and fender. The side curtain airbags did go off as well. However, the car alarm now seems to be in a constant honking state when unlocked. Is there any way to disable the car alarm? Is this because of the airbags? Some insight would be appreciated!

Factory alarm is simple - it just looks at door, trunk, and hood latch "sensors". You can unlock the door with alarm armed and as long as you don't open them alarm won't turn on.
If it randomly turns on, one of those must be affected. If hood / front bumper is damaged then hood latch would be my bet.
As far as I know alarm is build-in function of the MICU and doesn't have separate fuse, however if you disconnect the hood latch alarm might not turn on anymore.
That hood latch switch is grounded when hood is open, so if alarm still turns on, ground that wire going to the hood latch switch.
Car will think that hood is open all the time and never arm the alarm system.
