Thank You!

Hello All!

I'm a new member, and wanted to write to let you know that I solved my problem thanks to this site, and I'm very grateful.

I had the notchy third gear on my 05 ABP 6MT, and took it to the dealer to have my fluid swapped out. After arguing with the service department, they finally changed it, and now my gearbox shifts like smoothly again.

One question: for those that have swapped out their fluid, does the 3rd gear notchiness come back after awhile, and, if so, about how many miles did it take to come back?

Thanks again,

Ginette

Well, that's what the "experts" on this site are for.

Welcome to the board, thanks for joining. For other issues, you can also go to the 3G Garage, a stickied link at the top of the main 3G page.

Enjoy!

Just out of curiousity, can you describe your notchy 3rd gear experience? I've heard a number of other 6MT users mention it, but I never had this problem. I changed my tranny fluid to the GM Manual Synchromesh Friction Modified stuff last March at 14,000 miles.

Just curious to hear your explanation of your notchy 3rd gear.

trancemission had some "issues" with his gearbox as well (around 3K) and his dealer changed his fluid for a fresh fill of Honda MTF, and the problem went away.

I had the 3rd gear problem from about 1,500 miles to 8,000. I changed the fluid to GM Synchromesh and not a single issue since. It truly feels like an entirely different transmission.
