Unhappy Tail light

im having a odd problem with my 06 TL. I thought driver side tail light was out and one of my license plate lights. So bought all new bulbs and replaced them. Thought I was all good with the exception of the burnt out license plate light. Figured bad socket and I would fix another day. Then I closed the trunk. Tail light goes out and license plate light turns on. Pulled trunk apart again. All wiring is seemingly intact, factory wrapping with tags etc... has anyone experienced anything like this before? Any advice would be appreciated

thanks Joe

- Tail lights are LEDs. You mean turn signal bulb? Or reverse light?
- "bought all new bulbs and replaced them" - so you replaced that license plate light, but it didn't work, right?
- now after smashing the trunk license plate light works, and taillight doesn't?

How sockets looks? Are they melted, corroded, green-ish, anything?

Replaced turn signal bulbs back up light bulbs and licencse plate light bulbs. I replaced didnt smash anything. Taillight was not working on drivers side and no license plate lights. So purchased for both sides and trunk. Put the car back together and everyting worked with the exception of one bulb for license plate with trunk open car running lights on. Close trunk both license plate bulbs now on and no taillight.... All sockets looked new as well as plugs and wires. Used bulb grease on all of them. It has to be a wire or wires that are pinched or frayed somewhere. Hope its a ground easier to fix

Sounds like you have the right idea. Look for bad wires?

The wire loom along the trunk is probably problematic.
