Swap brembo caliper for Acura?
i gave my son my 2005 Acura TL 6 speed. The calipers are nearing the end of life after 240,000 miles and to save him some money was wondering if we can swap the calipers with standard (non-brembo) calipers? I'm prettty sure the rotor diameter is smaller for standard caliper too?Is it just a matter of removing old and bolting on new non-brembo? Will the bolt holes on the knuckle line up or does this need to be replaced too?

Rebuilding them is the way to go, time consuming and at times a pain, so take a look at RockAuto as they have the 4 piston fronts for $48 ea + shipping. There is a core deposit, but that will be returned when the old units are sent back.
Use code 6180929615713113, expires 7/2, 5% discount. Place the code in "How did you hear about us".

You'd basically doing the opposite of a Brembo swap which wouldn't make sense because you'd be downgrading your car's brake performance
You can follow this DIY backwards to achieve what you want:

OP, go the Rock Auto route. Save money for when he burns the clutch out

Don't want to look this up at work, I can do it tonight at home, but do you have the part number or link handy? I believe the passenger side Brembo caliper on my 08 TL-S is hanging up. Definitely need to look into rebuilding as well. Anyone have recommendations for a good rebuild kit?

The DVD-A Script Guy
Was also looking at the A-1 Cardone stuff this morning. Anyone have any experience with them? Price seems a bit too good to be true.
Doing a full front/rear rotor/pad job on my MT this weekend so surveying options if I need them. Recently had pads out and verified all pistons still move really well (flush brake fluid frequently) but still dreading a caliper bolt/thread disaster. (Have the time-sert kit on hand, new caliper bolts, and a bench top drill press, but still...all the horor stories)

This is why I fear my next brake job. I am hoping I can just get away with a pad replacement only and nothing else...otherwise I know for sure I will have issues with the threads....and I don't have a drill press.

Actually the same A1 Cardone units can be had from Advance Auto $73 each side.

Heck, the damn time-sert kit costs more than a pair of remanned calipers. Sounds like a no brainer to me
Edit: although a time sert permanently solves the dissimilar metal corrosion issue and a remanned caliper won't....

Good question. I'd hope that they time sert them If I knew the remmaned calipers had time serts, I'd be all over them
