Suspension washer

Suspension washer
So I recently got my suspension changed by a shop. I had a coilovers on it with the OEM tophats, and I went back to stock. Though when I got my car back the coilovers still had a black washer on it. So I was wondering if that washer is important to the assembly itself. Thanks!
