I'm finally getting around to swapping my shocks. The service manual mentions I should raise the suspension component before tightening the various bolts to torque specs. Eric the car guy also says this is procedure (although he frequently ignores this procedure).
To any who have done this work,
Please confirm the areas I highlight in red are the correct support points. Also, when lifting at the proper suspension point, am I supposed to lift until the weight comes off my jack stand? or just until the suspension point begins to compete with the jack stand?
Sorry, if the question is basic. I've never worked on suspension before and wanted a little guidance. Thanks.
lol that's the OFFICIAL service manual from HONDA. WHY wouldnt you listen to the service manual???????????????
yes, you need to compress the control arm with a jack.
Thanks for reply. I did not mean to imply I wouldn't use the manual. I think the manual is the best $50 I spent on my car for maintenance.
I was mostly unsure of the lift point for the front suspension. There is no picture for the front, just a section that mentions supporting the lower arm without mentioning what part of the lower arm (maybe it does not matter), although it does say not to support using the ball joint pin.
