Sulphur smell??? Sulfur smell???
First off, I didn't know this word could be spelled either way. I looked it up was shocked... Interesting... BUT...
Tonight, I had about a 100 mile drive one way that I had to get to. For about 10 minutes I was doing about 100. Now, this is not unusual. As I hit 100-110 atleast once a day. Long straight roads on my way to work...
So, as I am driving tonight on the tail end of my trip going to my destination, I noticed a rotten egg smell, which I know to be associated with sulphur collecting (I think) in the cat's when they get hot. This use to happen in my Saleen all the time. But, I was on the highway slowing down from my 100mph run. I thought it was a car in front of me as I came up on traffic. So after dinner, I was sitting in my car with it running for about 45 minutes. All of a sudden, the stench of rotten eggs, sulphur, was really bad. I shut the car off and than when I was ready to go home I started it and left. Now, all the way home I had the cruise set at 81. And didn't smell it at all.
Has anyone had this happen? This is the first time that I noticed this smell. Also, I warm my car up in the mornings, in my garage for atleast 15 minutes. I have never smelled this prior, not even after many long runs at 100mph +.
Anyone got any suggestions?

I'm at almost 13k and have had that smell both when I'm pushing it,hills, and at times just under normal driving. Just recently I threw 2 codes for emissions that cleared but now I might def take her in..............

Agree:
Sounds like you guys are overheating the cats on those 100+ cruises
Be glad the engine doesnt go into limp mode thinking its a severe problem
It doesnt take much to melt the pellets and plug the passage of air thru the cats.
Emission codes that clear themselves- you gen3 guys crack me up
Must be some belief with new cars that codes are all fakes- not clues to a problem

Also check fluid level in the battery- if that goes down and bakes the plates-
rotten egg smell too

FTW
Honestly, the fart smell was due to bad gas, I changed gas and havnt smelt a turd filled car yet.
I used gas from the closest station to my house, car smelled like a turd, changed to a different gas station and ever since then the smell vanished.
Try a different station imo.

hmmm well i got the nasty egg smell now too....ive also noticed that as of a week ago my clock isnt holding time... it appears taht every time i get in my car the clock is at a new time. The battery was just replaced at acura in the last 3 months so I really doubt that im baking plates already...probably my cat.... how much are the cats to replace?

I agree with just about everyone here- it's most likely the catalytic converter.
BUT WAIT!
(I know I sound like Billy Mays there, but seriously...)
I had the same exact smell in my cabin every so often that I would be driving around town. My check engine light would come on and I took it in, and they said that it could very well be the cat. They also said that I had a bad O2 sensor, which could be throwing off the cat as well (since it's a domino effect). In any case I would have to replace the O2 sensor, so I did and we decided to see if the engine would throw out any codes or if the smell would come back. If it did, it was also the cat, which is much more expensive to replace.
I'm happy to report that the problem was solved with just the O2 sensor. It will set you back about $160 (parts and labor) but it's better than shelling out more for the catalytic converter...at least, if that's the problem. I drove 2400+ miles to California for Spring Break last week and I never once had the check engine light come on, or the bad smell.
Have them check your O2 sensors first and hopefully that will be the end of the issue. I would hate to see you overspend to replace two parts when just one will do.
