Stuttering/shaking help me understand
My new 07 TL (Auto transmission) has less than 1k on it. I have been noticing some odd behavior and I have a hard time trying to explain it so please point me in the right direction.
This has happened about 4-5 times in the last couple of weeks and the most recent episode was yesterday.
While accelerating (normal, nothing fancy) when I reached around 35-40 miles an hour, the car felt like was "stuttering". I stopped the acceleration and kept on driving at about 40 miles/hour and the shaking did not stop. Even when I accelerated to 55mph it was still there. It felt as if I was driving over a road with lots of tiny speedbumps. ||||||||||||||||
This lasted for about 5 seconds. And no, the road was not bumpy as I use it often and twice within an hour yesterday.
The previous episodes did not last as long, however the car feels like it wants to stall or something, but the engine sounds fine.

what type of gas do you use in the car and from where do you fill up?

Although I doubt if this is your problem, you may want to check, just in case.
I had a shimmy/shake in my repmobile that was most noticable around 45 - 50 mph. When in for an Oil Change, I asked that it be checked. They found a screw in one of the tires and repaired it. Problem solved. I'd have never thought that would cause the shake I had, but apparently it did.
Also, I had a car previously that would shake/vibrate under acceleration. Turned out it had a loose or defective engine mount.
Dealership is best if the problem is reproducable.

I had the same problem on my '07. It showed up a few days after I bought it. Between 45-55 it starts to vibrate and "chug", then it goes away and comes back at a higher frequency at 75 through 80 when on the highway. I have been to the dealer twice and Bridgestone once for tire rebalancing. Got fed up and bought a whole new set of tires. Its still there, so I have just sucked it up and am going to wait for my first service and have them keep it til it's fixed. Like you I can't reproduce it. It doesn't matter what gear I'm either. I am no expert, but personally I think that it has to do with something in the drivetrain. I should have bought German.

Wow, that is just about exactly what is going on except I have not felt it at 75-80 yet as I don't normally drive that fast.
I tend to agree with some type of drivetrain issue as I cant really feel the engine "puttering".

I don't think its the engine either, as it pulls strongly while the car is vibrating. The chugging feeling in my car I believe is due to the whole chassis vibrating in that speed range. Thats why I think its a driveline issue.

I had this vibration with an 06 going about 45 to 55 mph. It was not the tires flat spotting which will cause slight vibrations when its cold out the tires have been heated up and then the car parked for several hours prior to driving it again. That kind of vibration is deemed normal.
I thought the "shutter" was from wheel weights which might have fallen off the tires which turned out not to be the case. I thought when they redesigned the power steering fluid container for 2007, they place a value in it which would stop any kind of kickback and thus solve the problem.
There are a number of complaints about this on mycarstats.com but you will have to register to see the details. It is under the 2006 year - either under tires or suspension. Check it out.

costco gas sucks...i get this same 'shaking' issue ever since I used regular unleaded from costco...never ever get any type of gas from costco again
I was desperate since there was no gas in atlanta last week..gotta hate the Bush administration
