Stupid Kocking !!!!

I have had this wonderful kocking noise coming from the engine since the day i got it. It took it to acura the first itme and they first said it was the solinoid valve. I called BS on that and took it in again and they replace the tensioner. The nosie was still there. I think it might be one of the cylinders like what happened to proxcon.

When the car is idling, the noise can be heard from outside. When i push the gas pedal to 1500 RPM's, (in park) the car gives a knocking noise that is faster and louder. It is an 04 tl with navi, AT, and about 23000 miles.

Ask your dealership for a meeting with the Acura regional rep. I think there are certain days they visit a given dealership. Or call Acura Client Services and explain the problem. They will probably setup a meeting with the regional rep.

If I am reading your post correctly, the dealership is not willing to take the engine apart or at least check the valves. No need to get the Acura Regional Rep involved if you feel that the dealership now get serious and start taking this engine apart to see what is making the noise.

My God! That's why they exist! If they can't figure that out, they've got more problems than your knock....

engine knock

My 06 has the same noise, but so did 3 loaner cars I listened to. They adjusted my valves but it did not help. Had factory rep listen to it and he said its normal! My noise goes away after a few minutes so im not going to worry about itany more.

the noise is there at all times, if you hit the gas while in park, the knock becomes faster, so i thing it could be the piston kncok/slap or a messed up pulley.

I had a loaner with the same issue. It sounded like a coffee grinder. I put premium gas (93) and ran the tank. It seemed to get much better.

my cousin filled up regular in mt tl once (he didn't know better{or read the sticker on the door]) and it sounded a little more pronounced, but not by alot. I think it may be with a pulley or a defective belt becuase they replace the belt tensioner and it went away, but came back after a few hours.
