Strpped Transmission Plug and Hole

Has anyone had to deal with this? Somehow I stripped my plug and hole. I know best option is to replace them, but has anyone re-tapped the threads on a transmission?

Edit: well only the dayum hole is stripped...

You can try a Time-Sert, I used one on my oil pan and it worked great, the aluminum pans are easy to strip out if you're not careful, time-serts are steel threads.

Have to tap it though and remove oil shavings, the engine oil pan was easy because I was able to just run the old engine oil back through it to drain out any aluminum shavings, not really the case with the trans since you can only get about 3 quarts out of it at a time.

Duno if they make one the right size for the transmission pan either, might be able to get one that fits or replace the pan :/

Don't remember if the trans oil and engine oil drain plugs are the same size, if they are the oil pan one may work .. could always contact them and ask, here's a link:

I had to order the tap guides for a ratchet as well, not really any way to get the longer tap guide on the taps down there. At least for the oil pan.

I still have a bunch of time-serts, if you were in Hawaii I'd let you use my kit.

Hope it works out.
