Exclamation Stripped steering wheel bolt help!

hey i was trying to take the air bag off the steering wheel to replace some lights and the cruise control button, while in this process i tried to get the hex bolt off with a t30 and it wouldnt budge period, it was that tight on both sides, the stupidity of me thought lets but the t30 bit on a drill so i did and it jsut stripped it more, my question is what the hell do i do now, im guessing take it to acura on monday but do you think they will be able to get it out? and does anyone know a ballpark for what that would cost any help is appreciated

EZ Out or screw extractor, or cut a slot in the head and use a hefty screwdriver with vise grips attached.

well would you rather have the airbag not be completely secured to the steering wheel?

Please don't take it to Acura. Seriously, I don't understand this website's addiction with running to the dealer for every little thing. I'd just take to a decent shop and they'd just do for some cash and be done with it.

that or live without the cruise control lights and just call it day.

I agree with you I don't want to take it to acura if I don't have to, I just want the cruise changed out and the lights which I can't do without taking those bolts off, I might take it to a local body shop or wait until I get to florida next weekend and use my friends impact wrench at his shop when we do the ac compressor

Take a somewhat blunt chisel, tap on the edge of the bolt (CCW) till you get a little corner like place that you can hit effectively, keep wacking til it turns a little & turn it out with pliers or fingers. Disconnect the airbag first.

Got it now, thanks guys, also found out next time your supposed to take a soldering iron and heat the bolt up for a minute that will heat up the loctite and allow you to turn the bolt
