Exclamation strange sound (video)

I was searching through the forum but couldn't find anything similar.

It only happens when the engine is cold. After driving 10-15 minutes the sound goes away. I went to Acura. First they changed belt tensioner, then belt, but the sound didn't go away. They said they don't know what that is.

As I noticed, the sound starts after few seconds I start the ignition.
If anybody had the same problem, please help!

Which side is the sound more dominant on, passenger or drivers side.

this most definitely the serpentine belt. Replace the belt and the check to see if the"idler pulley" i believe it is called is glazed. I had the same problem on my 2002 acura tl. Loud on cold boots and disappears in a few minutes. One thing you could try, see if the sound is louder with the ac on.

He said that they replaced the belt already. The only place i could think where that is coming from is the passenger side. There are so many components over there. I recommend taking a very long flat tip screw driver. Put the tip on the housing next to each components pully and put your ear on the plastic end. I used this many times over the years to find my bad parts, most recently, my wifes car where the alternator was making grinding noises. I did that to find out that it was the alternator. Try and see if it works. Sometimes the dealerships are freaking lazy.

jokerman has a good idea, you can also use a stethiscope as well.

Have you had the TSB done for the power steering pump o-ring?

If the idler is glazed even with a new belt, the sound will persist

It seem like its more noise from the driver side.

One more thing. Today I noticed that when I start turning the steering wheel, the noise interrupts.

I appreciate all replies!!!! Thank you

I have the same sound as well until the car warms up or after few minutes or so the sound is gone. Mine seems to be more prominent when I turn on the a/c right after I start the car or even sometimes after starting the car it would run quietly for first 15 to 20 secs then the sound starts and even after I put the car in gear and start driving. After few minutes of driving the sound disappears hopefully it is nothing major and I hope I can get by with it until the timing belt service

Mine is very similar to what you are experiencing but mine is only when you hit the throttle...

I took the car in and played the sound for the Mechanic and the Service reps... Im friends with both of the Service guys so according to the sound... "With my car" He thinks that its a Belt Tensioner... Only issue is that I had that replaced a few months back and I let them know that the noise never went away.

SO they are going to give me a rental and figure this shit out... I will keep you guys posted on what they find out... They are keeping my car over night so they can do cold testing on this noise!

Fingers crossed!!!!!!!!

This is exactly what the issue is... The previous owner I guess installed an after market Power steering pump and its making noises... Acura is going to replace it with an OEM pump...

I had to reenact the sound for the tech for whatever reason he was unable to hear it... I was able to and took him 10 seconds for him to hear it...

I will let you know if the sound is gone when I get my car back on Friday...

BTW FYI they gave me a 2010 ZDX to play with for the week while me car is getting my new tranny and torque converter unstalled along with the PS pump...

This one is listed with a price tag 54k and I have to say that its a sweet ride... not my style but its got some cool shit to play with... The keyless system it sick and the Blue tooth dolby digital surround sound system makes my TL system look lame!

I love Crown Acura and If your in the Tampa bay area hit me up I have a great contact with a Service Rep that will take great care of you!!!
