Strange sound during aggressive acceleration

Hello All,
Recently my 08 TL-S (auto) has been making a strange noise during relatively harder acceleration. I'm going to do my best to describe it, however it's been difficult trying to come up with the best way to do so.

First off, the sound will only occur during heavier acceleration. Slow acceleration does not trigger it. It will kick in around 3k RPM and go away around 5k RPM. If I accelerate hard enough to exceed 5k (give or take a few) it will go away above this.

The sound however is difficult to describe. It is almost a scratching or scraping noise and it is completely random in duration, loudness, and pattern. At first I thought it could be a belt slipping but it seems more of a metallic sound.

I don't think it's loud enough to get a recording of while driving. I haven't tried testing in park yet, but I will in a bit. If it duplicates I'll record.

If anyone could point me in some direction or has the slightest idea of what to look for based on this lovely description I would be grateful.

Tried duplicating the sound at lunch today while in park. Nothing. Still did it when driving though. Tried recording while driving and like I guess, wasn't loud enough to hear anything when played back.
