Steering wheel rattle fix

After 3 trips to the dealer to fix my 06 TL with the damn steering wheel rattle I decided to take matters into my own hands.

The airbag doesnt rattle, the column doesnt rattle, so I figured it had to be the connector or the harness it sits in. When I removed the cover of the steering wheel I found 2 connectors to the air bag, and probably the buttons on the wheel. The connectors are both lose and rattle when tapped. I put some foam tape against the sides of the yellow connector and slid it back in its holder, then I put a zip tie around the two connectors and harness, -the rattle is gone.

Why is it so hard to fix something that simple, shouldtint he dealer know these things.

It took me 5 minutes to do this, I am sure the rest of you with this problem can fix it this fast as well.

i had the same rattle in my type s and the first time i took it to the dealer to fix they told me it was my switch blade key that was making the noise...it wasnt....the second time in i took the car and gave it to them with the valet key...they insulated the steering wheel like you did and now its quiet...
