Anybody know if a "special tool" exists(or can be made) for holding the spring in place while replacing the cartridge in the external AT filter on 04-06 Acura TL's ?

I did this repair some time ago, but I don't remember needing a special tool.

In this video, start watching around 6:55. He places the spring against a raised lip on one side of the filter housing. I remember doing the same.



If you are still having trouble, maybe use a thin string to hold the spring in place (see attached picture. spring is purple, string is yellow). Once the filter with spring is in place, pull one end of the string to remove string.
