Speedo 10-15 mph off

Well I bought my car (at a car auction) around march of this year. Everything on the car is perfect except the speedo. I didn't realize this until I got pulled over for going 73 in a 50. I swore to the cop I was doing under 60 (still speeding, I know). Me being the only car on the road at the time (3:30am) he was pretty sure that i was lying. So the next day I pulled out my garmin nuvi to see if my speedometer is off and sure enough it is. I took it to acura and they have no idea what was wrong with it so they're putting in a new one. Has anyone else had this problem before?

Hmm, it's interesting....But at least you can fight the speeding ticket in court now, show them the paper work for a replaced speedo.. Good luck.

Thanks, I'm hoping that's what happens. I'll find out tomorrow around 1:15 when I go to court.

Take the sales slip- transfer of registration to show how recently you bought the car, the receipt from acura for the new unit and hope!!
Dress nice but not too nice, respectable would be a good description, nice honest citizen with no intent to ever break the law

hmm my speedo is off too, but i've yet to get back to town to bring the car to get it looked at. For me tho, it sounds more and more like a sensor fouled up, good luck on your court hearing

Thumbs up

Well my court hearing couldn't have gone any better. The cop never showed up! Guess it pays to go to court!

LUCKY.

lol my brother recently got some ticket, went to court cuz he claims he went the town speed limit. ...apparently NY cops now carry very nice camcorders that show speed time date etc etc....and gets a pretty good pic of the driver behind the wheel LOL

poor guy

Grats on the no show!
