Sound of Metal hitting metal more prominent on slower speeds. Help!
Has anyone experienced a sound on their TL that sounds like it coming from the front right of the car. It almost sounds like it's suspension related (I just recently replaced my front struts, it was making this noise before and is still doing it) but all the control arms, tie-rod, and bushings seem solid. It's a heavy metal on metal sound and you can really hear it on slower speeds, especially on bumps in the road. I'm thinking it may be a busted engine mount on the top passenger side of the engine bay. Any takers?

I'd take out that side motor mount and inspect it. They can make a strut/metal type noise sometimes. If it seams ok and you car has hi miles, might be time to replace it. Also the front motor mount should be inspected and replaced as well. sometimes both of those mounts go out at 60k.

You can see if the side mount is broken without removal...
another simple thing to check, the cotter pin in the lower control arm. I know it sounds simple but really easy to accidentally bend it to where it'l make contact with the back of the brake dust shield. I know this for a fact
J.
Otherwise, if you're slammed, look up above the upper control arm and see if it's hitting the metal under where the shock sits...many of us have had to cut a circle out for clearance. It doesn't sound mild when that happens though, it's an unGodly thud...
