Hey Guys,

Had a bad weekend, while driving down a major highway in my area headed towards I-95 someone shot my 04 TL with a bb gun or a slingshot, not sure but here is what happened, they hit the black molding on the outside of the car, the one just above the door handle that runs across to the side view mirror, this is all on the passanger side door..The impact was so hard that it bent the corner fo the black modling out and just missed hitting the window where my girlfriend was sitting. Does anyone know what this peice is called or how much it will cost to replace?? I still cant beleive this happened.

I think they call it an door insulator strip or something like that. I've heard it called that before, but am not sure what terminology Acura uses for that part.

Sucks that it happened, but at least it dodn't go through the window and hit someone. If it's the part I'm thinking about, one more inch up and you (or your girl) could have been hit!

How do you know you were shot at?

You were on a major highway, so isn't it possible something got kicked up by a passing truck or car? The sounds can be very similar.

Either way, it sucks. Last November the windshield in my Solara took a hit from a rock thrown by a passing truck on the Long Island Expressway. There was a loud CRACK to the right of my rear view mirror, and I looked over to see the "bullseye". I was thankful for full glass coverage!
