So i went off a ramp....

I'm on my way back from dinner with my friend in my 2008 TL-S and she was supposed to be giving me directions back to her house, but she somehow forgot she was giving me directions leading me to go straight instead of turn where I was supposed to. I end up going east on the new "I way" (stupid Rhode Island) so i went to make a U turn, got off the next exit and proceeded to get on the on-ramp to get go where I needed to go (West); and as I am accelerating like a regular human being would do to merge on a highway, my car all of a sudden gets launched up at least 2-3 feet in the air and slams back down. Now, I'm not exactly sure if there was any damage except to my wheel well? I was wondering if someone can post pics of there wheel wells. I have 19 inch rims with pretty thick sidewalls so thankfully my rims were not damaged and thanks to Acura's premium build quality, my car is still in tact. Any similar stories? And can someone please post pics of their wheel wells. Thanks in advance.

Punch her for giving bad directions.

Why don't you post pics of your wheel well?

No doubt. And didn't you heed the warning signs?? Maybe jersey is different, but if every regular human being launched their ride 3 feet into the air, there MUST be a problem with the on-ramp. And therefore there MUST be a sign warning of such a launch ramp at the entrance to an interstate.

Like marmalade said, post pics of what you think may be damaged and we will tell you if it looks like ours. Or call your insurance company and the highway department and let them both know what happened. 3 feet of vertical launch in a TL is bound to cause problems. Maybe a few inches, but 2-3 feet?? Holy hell. My Blazer with 35" tires would even have trouble with that!

You should be fine.
I use to watch this show with a big orange car and they jumped that thing all the time. Nothing ever happened to their car.

Call your insurance company!

Something very pertinent is missing from this story. I've been driving 20 yrs, have logged somewhere around 800,000 miles and have never had any of my cars "launch 2-3 feet in the air." Did you happen to ingest any mind altering substances during your dinner date?

Ouch. Have you gone back to where this happened and see in the light what would have caused this? Post some pics of that as well. I'm curious what kind of roadway deformity would launch this heavy car like a scene in Bullitt.

3 feet in the air is VERY high for a car...are you sure it wasn't like 6 inches?

Never had it happen accidently but on purpose is a different story. OH yeah and I have tried to jump my old cars many of times and to get it off the ground was a pretty hard task let alone 3 feet in the air.

Truly a classic. Maybe the best car chase scene ever put on film---def top 5.

So I'm watching the clip, thinking about the OP and it hits about the 02:25 mark and I damn near fell outta my seat! I can just see his "friend" screaming in the passenger seat now!

Maybe Ford should tune the exhaust of the new Bullit Special Edition to sound like her!

Agreed. It's enough to cause frame damage in some instances.

And in the Dukes of Hazard, I saw a behind the scenes commentary that said every car was totaled after being jumped.
