Are you in a very humid climate and are you using the a/c with the windows or sunroof open? What you are seeing is steam, the same kind of steam you see when you open the freezer door.

If the a/c is performing alright then there is no problem, but what I have seen in the past is that this sometimes occures when the freon level is a little low. i would have the charge level checked by a QUALIFIED shop.

could it be possible that his power steering hose is leaking and that minute amounts of smoke are entering his ac intake?

The title of this thread reminds me of an old Red Foxx joke.

Two Hookers were talkin,
One asks the other "You Smoke When You Finish"?
The other one says: "I Don't Know, I Never Looked"

If you are losing PS fluid- do not add stop leak-ever

There is a new directive- I think it reached REACLL status just the other day,
on the power steering hose leak problem--- and potential for underhood FIRE

Call acura 1-800-382-2238 x5 have the cars VIN numbr handy
If you are registered with acura as the owner you should get something in the mail and your acura.com account should have info

There is a new gen3 thread about it as well

ac systems still use freon gas- the old stuff was R-12 the new cars all run R-134a
There is a specific amount of fluid and special oil capacity-- and presure readings that show what is happening and when its full.
Not for the untrained person just because they sell it at parts stores.
At least have a friend with experience help.

Whoa!
Is your smoke coming from the A/C/climate control vents or is it coming from the engine bay??

If you get cool condensation (water vapor) at the A/C vents, it's not a concern.

It is a HUGE problem if you are getting smoke and any odor from anywhere in the engine bay/under the hood- stop driving the car and have it towed to the dealer on Monday if that is the case.

There is a sticky on the 3G Garage for the wiper and power steering hose recalls, but most dealers are awaiting parts before the recall fixes can be performed.

The odorless smoke is coming out from the a/c vents..

none of the smoke is coming from the engine area~ haha thanks for the concern..

i think it is the p/s fluid//... i was gonna replace with new p/s fluid but i got too lazy.. i think imma do it tonight.. and i will post it results~.. thanks

First off, burning PS fluid is NOT odorless. It’s a type of oil and would smell as such if it were burning. You even said your self that there is no smoke in the engine bay, so why would it magically appear through your ac vents?

What you are most likely witnessing is the condensation forming when cool dry air from your vents hits warm moist air (like when you're driving with the sunroof open).

As far as leaking R134a, I doubt it. R134a is a colorless gas and if it were in fact leaking, you would notice a loss of cooling – not “smoke” through your vents. Are you experiencing a loss of cooling? Since you’re stating that your PS fluid is leaking, you should have it checked by the dealer since it’s most likely part of the recall and if gives you peace of mind, get the ac system checked while its there.

Btw some more background info would be good. Any recent AC work such as a recharge? btw the more info you can provide that may be related the better we can help.

I have to agree with this. I've seen it happen in my old TSX, it's no biggie. Sounds like your A/C is fine to me. Just make sure all your windows and moon roof are closed. If it's blowing condensation out the vent, NOW THAT'S REALLY COLD!!

Have it inspected for pease of mind if you want.

The leaking P/S hose is a separate issue all together. Definately get that taken care of.

Good luck...........

Update? Seems like everyone with problems asks about solutions but hardly come back to let everyone know what it was.

The "smoke" may be condensation caused by the cold a/c air coming in contact with the warmer, humid cabin air. If it is, the easy solution is to press the recirculate button. If that is the problem the smoke will stop almost immediately.
