slotted rotors question??
I just installed a set of summit racing brand cross drilled and slotted rotors with a set of duralast ceramic brake pads. now I notice a slight vibration in the steering wheel coming off the highway?? I bedded the brakes as directed and they stop great!! Anyone know what could be the problem?? I hate to think that Summit sold me a warped rotor??

Rotora drilled and slotted is what I am running, about $400 including pads but brakes are a good investment in my book.

There were no rust on the rotors when I installed them. I cleaned them accordingly and bedded the brakes as instructed. As for summits quality?? I have never bought a bad part that is summit brand and they stand behind their parts!! I spoke with someone there and was told to put 500 miles on the rotors and if the problem continues they will replace the rotors and reimburse the installation costs to me!!

Just to clarify.. You get vibration at highway speeds (60-70mph)? Is it a vibration that definitely wasn't there before?
If so.. I still wouldn't say the rotors unless they're noticeably damaged / warped but you say they're brand new. Could be driveshaft / CV joint / hub bearing.. could also be abs sensor.. engine mount.. tires.. Any other details?

hmm.. I have to say pads on this one.. try getting an even bed on the rotor.. I suspect that the pads have dug in / bedded on a portion of the rotor but not around the whole rotor so it's grabbing more of the rotor on that part then the other.. so it's like grab-slip-grab-slip which could be causing it to vibrate. Try to do some hard firm stops like 1/2 dozen or so from 60 - 10 and from 45 - 5. I would first inspect the pads and then try to rebed them.
