Side view mirror problems.
Side view mirror problems.
Hey all,
I have a 2004 TL and about a week ago when I put it in reverse my passenger side mirror almost always shoots upwards and keeps going until it click a few times. This has happened once with the driver side. After about a minute it stops and I can change it back to where I like it. Neither mirror will tilt down when in reverse anymore. When manually adjusting I have full range of motion for both mirrors. If I turn off the car and back on again the problem doesn't persist. However, I'd say if it's parked for more than 30 minutes it will happen again. I read some threads saying the culprit is fuse #20. However, my washer fluid still works, my night mirror works, and my memory lights are still active. I'm willing to replace the fuse but I'm not very confident that's the problem. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Alright, I've done some testing to give you guys a better idea of what's going on. These were all done one right after the other.
Test One: Switch to right side. Put in reverse. Mirror starts going down but stutters on its way to proper down position. Put in park. Mirror goes all the way up until it starts clicking. Manually put mirror back in position after its done. Switch to left side. Put in reverse. Mirror goes down as it should. Put in park. Mirror goes up to proper position.
Test Two: Right side switch. Put in reverse. Mirror goes up until it clicks. Put in park. No affect. Manually adjust. Left side switch. Put in reverse. Mirror goes inward until it clicks. Put in park. No change. Manually adjust.
Test Three: Right side switch. Put in reverse. Mirror goes down as it should. Park. Mirror goes back to position but very slightly off from original position. Left side switch. Put in reverse. Mirror goes down as it should. Put in park. Mirror goes back to original position perfectly.
Test Four: Right side switch. Put in reverse. Mirror goes up until it clicks. Put in park. No change. Manually adjust. Left side switch. Put in reverse. Mirror goes inward until it clicks. Put in park. Mirror goes back but not at all close to original position.

Cool I saw that, but I guess I figured that it wasn't the same problem because the problem seemed to be only in one direction and not every direction. Also, I've yet to see someone complain about it happening on both mirrors at the same time so I figured it had to be something electrical that controls both units. Just seems strange. What are the odds both mechanical parts have problems at the same exact time?
Edit: Also in the How-To, https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/3g-mirror-repair-pictures-3g-garage-e-045-a-832020/ , it looks like this is to correct mirror stuttering. Not the mirrors going every which way when put in reverse.

I had the same problem with the driver side I check it with my Honda hds it was the tilt sensor that was bad. I ordered from acurapart.com for 40.59 it come as a whole unit you plug you wires and put you mirror and that it.
