Side View Mirror Issue
Side View Mirror Issue
I have a 2005 TL with a bizarre problem, has anyone heard of this? To the lower left of the steering wheel there is the button/switch that adjusts the side mirrors. I toggle the switch to the left and then use the button to tilt the mirror into the position I want. For some reason, I cannot tilt the mirrors up at all. I can use the button to direct the mirrors in any direction, but if I tilt the mirror all the way down to the floor and then want to bring it up to normal level, they don't come up at all. I have to push on the top of the mirror to make it come up and it makes a loud clicking sound when I do this which can't be good for it. Anyone ever heard of this happening? Perhaps a bad switch?
I had an issue with my drivers side mirror not wanting to go down while in reverse. The dealer replaced it under warranty. The big shock to me was they checked the passenger mirror (which had never given me any problems) and said it had the same issue, and they replaced it, as well. I forget what exactly it was that caused it, but I would imagine yours is the same issue.
I had a similar issue on my '04. The passenger mirror started making a clicking noise when tilting down while in reverse then it stopped working altogether.
Turned out to be a bad motor on the mirror that the dealer replaced under warranty.
