Is there anything on your back seats? Mine would go on when I had my book bag in the rear

There are 3 weight sensors in the passenger seat that detect if the seat is empty or occupied by a passenger. If your car got rained on on the passenger side, then perhaps these sensors got damaged from the rain. It means a trip to the dealer to know for sure.

If the Side Airbag Off or Passenger Airbag Off lights are on, then the passenger and side airbags will NOT deploy in the event of an accident even though someone is riding in the passenger seat. It's an important safety issue that needs to be addressed.

I see this all the time. Most of the time once the seat dries out its fine. it dosent take much weight for the opds system to shut the bag off. last one i looked at the system showed 3.2lbs in the seat. Unless it was completely flooded than the sensors should be fine. they are enclosed sensors attached to the rails. also the seat back has a sensor pad that correlates height to weight. just let it dry out and check it than.

What is the weight threshold for the sensors? I've never seen the little airbag light above the hazard lights button come on.
