Service Work

My 07 TL's alternator went out on me couple days ago. In the shop now getting fixed. Can anyone give me advised on how much a timing belt/plugs/water pump normally runs at a shop these days? The same shop gave me an estimate for the timing service of $1200. By the way, care has 98K miles.

Thanks

That price is roughly on par with the range out there, maybe a little high, but not way out of line. That said, if the price includes the new alternator, then it is pretty good.

The forum where you originally posted, the AcuraZine User Help, Support & Suggestions Area , is meant for problems, comments, and suggestions for the website itself, so I moved your thread to the car specific forum applicable to your vehicle.

This was explained in the sticky thread at the top of that forum, or click here if you can't find it, which will explain why you shouldn't have posted your thread there.

Water pump calls for ~5h, spark plugs ~1h, Aisin timing belt kit ~$200, 6x spark plug ~$60, OEM honda coolant ~$25.

Anything over $1k for timing belt pump and plugs is too much in my book, unless you go through the dealer with all OEM parts.

If that quote is with aisin / napa kit it's a bit high, if with autozone kit run away, if with dealer OEM parts it's good, if with ebay "OEM" parts run away.

Thanks for the reply. The price does not include the alternator. What are shop charges to replace with new alternator?

LOL, I was on a road trip in my 2001 Honda V6 Accord when my alternator went Tango Uniform; the closest place which had an alternator on hand and could replace it quickly was a Honda dealership. Yeah, it cost a tad more than that; final bill was just over $700.
