Service appt for interior rattles
I've only had my 07 Type S a little over a week and it seems like a new interior rattle is appearing every day. The most prominent are around my gauges and another coming from the back seat.
I read some old threads about some common fixes, but I can't pinpoint exactly what is causing mine. I press on different areas and nothing affects the sound. I was hoping to have found them before bringing it in for service so they don't have to take the whole car apart to find them, but it's to the point that I can't stand it anymore.
So I have an appointment next week at my local Acura dealership (where I bought it from). Is this a bad idea to bring it in without having figured out the source of the rattles? Since I've read that rattles are somewhat common with Acuras, am I wasting my time even trying to deal with them???

no worries.. tell them to go ahead and try to stop the current and future rattles that are known to be problematic. They've probably seen them all. It may save you a future visit. It's there job to figure it out.. don't let them B.S. you.. if they say they can't hear it.. take a tech out on a ride, it shouldn't be a problem for them though. I've just learned to live with it and do my own fixes.. there are some really good DIY fixes on AZ as well

Sometimes I imagine that there's tiny people inside my TL with small Jack Hammers and I slap my dash, if the rattles stop that means I killed them all!
Damn little buggers reproduce faster than rabbits though..

depending on how good the tech is that gets your car as to weather or not he will fix the rattles or not, and if he is good at fixing rattles or not....
i am not saying dont take your car in for rattle fixes, its worth a shot or two, but in the end after having my car in twice for rattles, i just track them down and fix them myself...
good luck

I agree, if after twice the dealer can't fix it, just do it yourself. Have someone drive the car for you and you can sit and listen for rattles while the car's moving. I recommend using a post it note and stick it onto each area there's a rattle.

Well after being without my car for 4 days, the problem is at best halfway fixed. The tech was convinced my front rattle was due to the tweeter, so he ended up replacing it entirely. Although we couldn't reproduce the rear rattle, there was a service bulletin out for a rear deck rattle and he performed that fix.
Of course driving away from the dealership I heard nothing, but it didn't take long for the front rattle reappear. I really think it's the vent, so I'm going to just try the DIY method outlined in another thread. The rear rattle hasn't come back up, but I'm just waiting.
