quick question, just got an 08 TL-S and the dealer tried to charge me for a security system. i declined it. here's my question, does the dealer just deactivate the security system? or is it something they actually install in the car? and if it is already built it, is there a way i can activate it on my own?

That sounds like BS , it was already activated when the original owner bought the car ..
Lock the door with key fab and if you hear a beep its on .. (sometimes you have to press it twice)

 

ok, it does beep after pressing it twice.. just not sure if they deactivated it and just made it for keyless entry

 

the TL comes stock with a security system.
if doors are locked and some one tries to open door from inside, alarm will go off.
the dealer cannot dis activate this system, as it comes from Acura's Ohio Plant installed.

who know what the heck they were trying to sell you as you didnt provide any more information.

 

hmm try this open the window , lock the door , stretch hand inside and unlock the door

I think they were just trying to Charge you for a aftermarket Alarm/Car starter. When I bought my 08 they said they would "throw in the Alarm at no cost" I laughed and said thanks for including something that should be included anyways. When I picked the car up the next day, I got the Acura fobs and 2 aftermarket fobs that link to the car starter but also lock/unlock the doors. Maybe that's what they were trying to get you with.

 

so i had the window rolled down, locked and i reached in to unlock the door.. nothing went off..

 

Make sure red security LED on driver's door is blinking.
Wait 10-20 seconds before trying this.
Or press lock button 2 times before trying this.
