Angry Seat replacement

So, my seat developed a blemish (looked like a portion of the leather had melted) so I took it in today to have the driver's side seat cover replaced. A while back, the advisor indicated that the seat might not fit as tight or could fit as well or better. When I got it back I was AMAZED! The seat looks like crap! The right edge is so wrinkled, the leather is bunching up at the middle of the bolster. The left edge looks like the leather on the TSX, the grain is nowhere near the grain on the rest of the seat. It feels completely rough as opposed to smooth. "Lexoled" the crapout of it when I got home but no improvement.

Will call them tomorrow but I'm sure this is another item for my session with the DPSM later this month.

On a positive, they will replace my headliner. They believe the headliner tape is coming off so that is the noise I hear whenever I go through bumps.

I am amazed, these annoying things are getting OLD.

That's lame, they should match and not have wrinkes.

I'd be really careful about how much you put on. A little is all you need. There is some speculation that the perforated leather absorbs much more moisture than non-perfed and that is what causes the "melting". Makes sense to me that saturated leather would be much more prone to being damaged. I've seen lots of comments about how people thought leather was so easy to keep clean. It is true for non-perf but it isn't for perforated. While it's comfier than non-perf I think it sacrifices durability.

Call American Honda's Consumer affairs at 1-800-382-2238 and select option 3. Make sure you have your vehicle identification number to report the seat problem. They will then assign you to a case worker in which they will have your vehicle inspected at the dealer. I have the same problem with my leather front seats. They look like if they have melted. My next step is calling their Legal Department to form this some kind of class action lawsuit. Good luck.

This number is pretty much worthless. I used it for a different issue and found their "case managers" o be totally ineffective and unempathetic.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that the number was worthless for you. It was well worth it for me. You should them contact other government departments to report the incident. I have multiple departments that you should contact. E-mail me if you would like them.

You need to ask the dealership to tighten all cocerns during installation. Tell them to send it to another seat shop. I had my leather replaced in the past and when it came back, it was very lose just like your case. The seat need to be tighten using a proper machine, just like factory.

Second replacement, even worse. At this point I am taing it to an upholstery shop and get it done right. Acura's standards are lower it appears than mine.

I called the above number and then finally my new seat cover where installed for free. The new ones look like an 85 year old person's skin. They are really wrinkled. I just returned back in town so I'll be calling American Honda again. Good luck.

Lazaro, why post the same comment 2 - 3 imes? Anyway, at this point, I am taking it to a place that specializes in leather upholstery. They saw it, said it looked bad, $85 to fix. When I meet with the DPSM for the dash fade I will ask for a reimbursement. My time is too valuable to keep taking it to the dealer and getting a half-assed job on the seat. They can only do what they are equipped to do so I can understand they cannot do as good a job as a leather place. however, i would have thought they would have offered that option.
