Scratched the hood with my fingernail!

I can't believe it but it happened. I was scratching off some dried "stuff" after a car wash and pouring rain hadn't taken it off, and after using just my fingernail, I see scratchs on the hood . I don't think it's through the paint, but they are definitley there and aren't coming out with gentle rubbing.

Any ideas on how to clean this up? I'm hoping it's just scratches in the wax or clear coat or something.

Try Maguire's Scratch-X... but test it first on a not-so- obvious place before you try on your hood, then reaply some wax.... And then, trim you nails!

even rubbing with your skin or wiping with a dry napkin will mess up the paint.
is scratch-x really good? they all claim to remove minor surface scrathes & swirl marks so I can't trust any of them. Scratch-X vs. Nu-Finish? can someone help me out before i buy both & return one?

i used it once - all it does is cover-up...scratch reappeared some time later. Its a cover-upper, not a true fix
